The United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child (CRC) has just published General Comment No. 26 on children's rights and the environment with a special focus on climate change.

With young children mentioned in passing, greater collective efforts are needed to amplify the needs and voices representing our early childhood development (ECD) community.

Young children before primary schooling are underrepresented in climate and environment policy making despite being highly vulnerable to climate’s impacts.

  • 34% of the 103 NDCs are child sensitive with minimal reference to young children.
  • Only 2.4% of key global climate funds support child-responsive activities, much less so for young children.
