Advocacy : Responsive Caregiving and Playful Parenting
Depok, Indonesia: As part of the MORECARE4YoungChildren Project, supported by UBS Optimus Foundation, ARNEC visited two sites in Depok, Leuwi Nanggung (Tapos) and Depok Jaya (Pancoran Mas), to observe the implementation of the BKKB EMAS program and engage with local stakeholders (cadres, district and sub-district leaders, parents, caregivers, and children)
The visit highlighted the importance of using local language in effectively communicating key messages on early childhood development (ECD), making sessions more relatable and accessible for families. It also underscored the vital role of community and religious leaders in strengthening participation and trust in the program. Cadres demonstrated strong commitment, driven by passion to support children despite the lack of monetary incentives. Parents shared that through responsive parenting, they are not only guiding their children but also learning from them—reflecting the value of community-based efforts in advancing ECD.
