The UNICEF East Asia and Pacific Regional Office has released two resources on young children, particularly supporting early learning and development beyond the pandemic and addressing environmental shocks and hazards that worsen inequality among children.

The first resource, Smart Futures, is a pedagogical resource to support governments and partners introduce system-level reforms, particularly strengthening the capacity of the ECCE workforce as an entry point in the context of building back better post-COVID-19. Meanwhile, the other resource entitled ‘Over the tipping point’ details the negative impacts of overlapping climate and environmental shocks and stresses on young children in the East Asia and Pacific. To address these impacts, the report recommends providing children with access to key services, child protection and social systems, and establishing disaster preparedness systems.
