As climate change intensifies, flooding has emerged as a significant health and environmental hazard. The impact of flooding disproportionately affects people living in poverty, with 89% of the world’s flood-exposed people living in low- and middle-income countries.1 Between 2000 and 2015, there was an estimated 24% increase in the proportion of people exposed to floods.
Asia-Pacific Regional Network for Early Childhood Development (ARNEC) has partnered with Vital Strategies to publish this advocacy brief to highlight the specific risk that flooding poses to young children, and a list of actions that we can take to reduce this risk.
